Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 September 2026 Published by: IdeaForgeLabs Contact: ideaforgelabs.support@gmail.com
These terms cover your use of the Japo app for Android and iPhone. By installing or using Japo, you agree to them. Please read them; they are short.
On iPhone, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it and these terms differ, Apple's agreement governs your licence to the app, and these terms describe how Japo itself works.
1. What Japo is
Japo is a counter for japa and naam jap. It counts what you tell it to count, keeps that count on your phone, and shows your own history back to you. It is a tool for your practice, nothing more: it offers no religious instruction, initiation or guidance, and it is not a substitute for a teacher or a tradition.
2. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Japo on devices you control, for your own use. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, or try to extract its source code or assets except where the law allows it regardless of this term.
3. Your practice data
Everything you count belongs to you. It is stored on your phone.
We do not receive it, cannot read it, and cannot recover it for you. Keeping your own copy is your responsibility. Your phone's own backup, and Japo Plus's automatic backup, are the ways to do that.
4. Japo Plus
Japo is free to use for counting, history, insights and goals. Japo Plus is an optional, one-time purchase that adds automatic backup and the mala collection.
- It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews and nothing is charged again.
- It is sold and paid for through Google Play on Android, under Google's terms, and through the App Store on iPhone, under Apple's terms. Prices are shown in your own currency before you buy.
- It is tied to the Google account (Android) or Apple Account (iPhone) that bought it, and can be restored on another phone of the same kind with "Restore a purchase". A purchase on one store does not carry over to the other.
- On iPhone, Family Sharing is on: members of your Apple family can use Japo Plus without buying it again.
- Refunds follow the refund policy of the store you bought from. Requests are made through Google Play or through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com). If the store cannot help you and you believe something went wrong, write to us at ideaforgelabs.support@gmail.com and we will do what we reasonably can.
5. Automatic backup
Automatic backup writes to storage under your own account: the hidden application-data area of your own Google Drive on Android, and Japo's private area of your own iCloud on iPhone. Your storage space, your account's terms and the availability of Google's or Apple's service apply. We are not able to restore a backup for you, and we are not responsible for a backup that Google or Apple cannot deliver.
6. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- use Japo in a way that breaks the law
- attempt to interfere with the app's purchase checks or to obtain Japo Plus without paying for it
- redistribute the app's mantra texts, artwork or fonts as your own
7. The app is provided as it is
We build Japo carefully, and reliability of the count is its first principle. Even so, the app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not promise that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will run on every phone or every version of Android and iOS.
8. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Japo. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Japo Plus, if anything.
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law where you live.
9. Changes
We may change these terms as the app changes. The current version always sits at this address, with its date at the top. Continuing to use Japo after a change means you accept the new terms.
10. Ending
You may stop using Japo at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop distributing or supporting the app, though a purchase you have already made remains valid on the phones where it is installed and restorable through Google Play or the App Store.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections where you live.
